Reading expectations
Your child will bring home a variety of reading materials. They will have a book bag book linked to their current RWI book. This book is pitched at their level and we expect this book to be read three times a week. Please record this reading, with the date, in your child's reading record.
They will also have a paper version of the RWI book they have been reading this week. This book is a chance for your child to 'show off' and celebrate what they have been learning in school and for your to celebrate their reading with them. Please aim to read this book twice a week with your child.
A sheet of Green and Red words will also be sent home, again linked to their RWI book. Please practice these words daily as this will have a huge impact on your child's RWI lessons.
Finally, to encourage Reading for Pleasure, your child will have chosen a 'Bedtime book' for you to share with them. There is no expectation that the child must read this book as it is to be shared with an adult. These books should be shared a minimum of 5 times and can be kept as long as you want - especially if it is a good one! :-)
