Welcome to Starbooks!  This room has been carefully crafted by a dedicated team made up of teachers, teaching assistants and governors at The Holt to help our students feel inspired when choosing a book to read.  We designed the room so that children would see that we value them as readers, listen to their interests and ideas and WANT to read the books it contains. We wanted them to feel like they were stepping into a book shop.

Over the last few years, our school has made a concentrated and strategic effort to upgrade the books we have on offer to our pupils to that they help them not only to access the books, but to feel INSPIRED to read them.  Because of this STARBOOKS is constantly changing the books on display to promote NEW and EXCITING authors and a range of genres (comics, magazines, novels, picture books, graphic novels and etc).

Starbooks also aims to make ALL children feel valued.  To do this we are continually adding new and diverse books that allow pupils to see children, just like them and their family in the books we display and have on offer.  At The Holt, it is our aim to have books that represent EVERY child and every 'protected characteristic' (age, race, gender, disability, race, religion or belief and etc). 

 With the support of our local community, we will continue to make this space the BEST it can be for our students.  Our new Reading Ambassadors are doing a great job to help keep the room tidy, well organized and an exciting space to come.  They represent the school to be the voice that offers ideas for new titles and ways they want to use the room.  Watch this space!
